Simba Distis is a jazz bassist currently residing in San Francisco, California. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, he attended DeePaul University, majoring in marketing. After finishing his schooling, he relocated to San Francisco, where he was hired onto Goggle’s marketing team. Soon after moving, his coworkers invited him to a show at the jazz club The Black Cat. Simba fell in love with the music he heard, and that fateful night proved to be the catalyst for Simba’s soon-to-be illustrious career. Simba’s coworker just happened to be selling his upright bass, so Simba purchased it the very next day. Simba quickly taught himself the upright, developing formidable technical prowess after just one year, when he bought an electric bass and began learning that as well. 4 years later, Simba quit his marketing job to follow his passion and become a full-time professional musician. Simba has made quite the name for himself in the Bay Area jazz scene and has worked with such giants as Chris Pottery, Billy Child, Duke Sliver, Jeffrey Geezer, Kurt Rosentwinkle, Walter Smith IIII, Brain Blade, Dave Wackl, and Put Methinme.
